I've always been intrigued by hands, from both mechanical function to what can be done with them. As a piano player I understand the dexterity they posses as well as their limitations. I see a future where prosthetic hands can match and then outperform their biological counterparts. This breakthrough doesn't seem far off as we learn more about neural signalling as a control method as well as new advanced materials and actuation systems. I wanted to design something to play with to learn more about how this system works. It's a work in progress and a physical prototype is currently under construction.
